Szeged, a town from Hungary, is located at the southern borders of the Great Plain, at the confluence of the Tisza and Maros rivers.
It lays at about 171 km from Budapest near the M5 motorway, at north of the White Lake.
This is the lowest situated town of the country.
The country's deepest-lying point - 75.8 meters above sea level - can be found in the southern part of Szeged, in the Gyálarét, near the Serbian border.
Szeged was founded on the islands from the right bank of the Tisza, at the confluence of the Tisza and Maros rivers.
The population of the islands gradually filled the hollows, marshes, such the area of the town has become unified in the 18 - 19 century.
Szeged is compound of three main parts: Lower town, Upper town and Downtown.
The climate is sub-mediterranean: summer is hot and winter is generally mild.
